Tarot Deck - 78 cards bursting
with mystery!
Tarot Decks in abundance with many themes to
capture your imagination and open up your
psyche.
There are a very large
variety of tarot decks to choose from that are
interesting and beautifully designed for the
experienced or the beginner reading our tarot
card decks but the
most widely used and known is the Rider-Waite
Tarot Deck which I will write a review of
further down the page.
In most tarot decks there
are 78 tarot cards which consist of 22 major
arcana tarot cards and 56 minor arcana tarot
cards, however there are card decks that vary in
numbers such as Oracle decks which are used for
similar purposes to the tarot card decks, these
vary in numbers from as low as 20 to
as high a number of 144 and can be based on any
structure or topic.
The tarot decks are based on
themes and the characteristics vary
quite a lot. There are many
that I like and it is important to feel ‘as one’
with the tarot deck that you select. The
particularly beautifully illustrated cards in my
opinion are the Tarot of Prague which is a very
beautifully
designed and
composed of collaged photographs of the art &
architecture of Prague – this is a very suitable
tarot deck of cards for readers and for
beginners. It is highly recommended as it is now
a classic tarot card deck.
I also like the Fey Tarot
card deck which is again a beautifully
illustrated and unique tarot of the Fey. This is
a more universal variety with an anime feel, not
the British fairies. It is, in my opinion, a
well thought out tarot set and carefully
designed to suit readers of all ages. It has its
own unique magic and a fantastic playful deck.
The Themes of the tarot
decks are huge and too many to mention here but
to give you an idea of the themes used, there
are Angel, Arthurian, Celtic, Christian, Dark &
Gothic, Fairy Tales, Flowers, Medieval, Occult &
Pagan so many ideas and illustrations to get
ones imagination, inner strengths and intuition
working well.
There are a variety of the
more popular tarot cards such as the Rider-Waite
set which, as well as the present tarot
deck, there is the original set and also the
Radiant Rider-Waite Tarot Card Deck which has
been re-illustrated by Poshkus who has updated
Pamela Colman-Smith’s famous images. Poshkus has
made these much more luminously coloured and
three dimensional.
